Role menus
The roles your members give themselves.
A role menu (often called "reaction roles") is a message published in a channel from which members give themselves roles on their own: notifications, countries, games, interests.
Creating a menu
- Create the menu and give it a title and a description.
- Add its entries: a role, a label, an emoji, a button colour, a description.
- Choose the display style: buttons or dropdown.
- Choose the mode.
- Publish it in a channel.
The three modes
| Mode | Behaviour |

| Multiple | The member freely takes and drops as many roles as they want |
| Unique | Taking a role from the menu automatically removes the other roles from the same menu |
| Locked | The member can take a role, but never remove it themselves |
Unique mode suits exclusive choices (one platform, one region). Locked mode suits a commitment (accepting the rules).
Editing a published menu
Change the configuration: the published message is updated automatically. You do not have to publish it again or delete the old one.
Turning the feature off
Disabling role menus leaves the messages in place, but clicks stop doing anything. To remove a menu, delete it: the associated message goes with it.
As everywhere, Bao refuses roles above its own and roles with dangerous permissions.
